Is juvederm making my immune system weak? Very concerned.

Juvederm is made of non animal derived hyaluronic acid which is completely biocompatible.  As such, it should not weaken or stimulate your immune system.  The only cases where an immune reaction occurs is when the product somehow gets contaminated (makeup, skin not cleansed prior to injection).  The syringes are designed for one-time use, so I don't recommend storing the remainder of a syringe and using it for touch ups.Hope this helps!

Hi Marilyn. I think what you've been experiencing is just a coincidence. Fillers don't have an effect on the immune system that way. What I'd be more concerned about is the fact that your injector used a 5 month old open syringe of Juvederm on you. That greatly increases the risk of a localized infection and is just bad practice.

Hi Marilyn_rose,I understand your concern, but rest assure that there has not been any correlation of Juvederm or any dermal filler causing a problem with the immune system. You need to realize that HA fillers (Juvederm and others) have been utilized millions of times worldwide with no correlation of this problem that you are describing.
