I had fillers injected in my Tear Through 72 hrs ago. My surgeon did not explain well how much product he added. And from what I heard during the procedure he injected belotero & possibly juvederm. Why did I choose this doctor to begin with? Because he performed a breast reduction 10 years ago and fixed my bottom lip after my dog attacked me. Both things impecably done. I’m insecure because I read horror stories & I look AWFUL. Even if this looked better, can it transform into continued edemas?

The good news about eyelid fillers that do not look good is the HA type fillers can be reversed by dissolving with hyaluronidase injections. This sometimes improves the unwanted fullness within minutes.

Hi Blabbas.  Sorry to hear about your situation.  The good news is that Juvederm and Belotero can be easily reversed with Hyaluronidase (Vitrase).  The enzyme breaks down the product when it's injected so that all that remains is your natrual skin tissue.  
We try to stay away from fillers like Belotero and Silk in the under eye area as they tend to move and reposition because they are so smooth and soft.  We prefer Restylane.  With that said, it could still be some minor swelling, but if the bump does not go down it can be easily reversed.

It does take more time for you to heal and the filler to settle in place. If after giving it time to heal (weeks) and still not happy, there are several options possible after such as dissolving filler, redoing filler, and/or lower blepharoplasty.

Juvederm has significant swelling post injection. I would follow up with you plastic surgeon but typically I tell all my patients to wait a full two weeks.  Generally at 2 weeks they are happy and glad they didn't dissolve.

It's too soon to tell what your final results will be. You have swelling, which will take 1-2 weeks to resolve. If you're unhappy with your final results, you can have it reversed with hyaluronidase. Keep in mind, a combination approach will give the most improvement. Fillers, lasers, and microneedling/PRP can improve under the eyes. My patients try to get non surgical treatments to avoid surgery. We use PRP and stem cells there often. I suggest consulting with an expert to develop a treatment plan best suited for your short and long term goals. Best, Dr. Emer

Swelling and bruising is not uncommon with tear trough injections. Using cold paks, Arnica, and bromalain can all help reduce the swelling and get rid of the bruising quicker. Swelling can last up to 2 weeks. I encourage you to remain patient and not judge any results untl after the 2 week mark. At which point I would follow up with your injector to see if any massage or touch up is necessary.

Hi blabbas, Thanks for your question. There could still be some swelling around the area which will progressively go down. That's why follow-up visits are usually booked 2-3 weeks after the treatment. Once you see your physician, you can assess the before and after photos to objectively see the progress and result. There is an enzyme that can be injected to dissolve the filler if you find the tear trough area was over-treated. Definitely a discussion to have with your physician. Remember that the under eye/tear trough area is very sensitive and is likely to swell after injection with filler. Most surgeons will recommend that you wait a full 2 weeks before assessing the final result.  At this point 72 hours is still too early.After 2 weeks, if you are still unhappy with the result, a few options exist.  If you have too much volume, injection of hyaluronidase (an enzyme that dissolves the filler) will help get rid of the fullness.   If you have areas that are uneven, a "touch up" with additional filler may be a good option.  One more point: Juvederm is known to cause some prolonged swelling in the under eye area. Restylane and Belotero are better products to use in this area.Best of luck!
