Scar tissue in my upper left lip from being bitten by a dog. Are there options other than surgery to reduce the size? (Photos)

the bite happened 5 years ago. I'm 30 now and my lips seem to be thinning and the scar tissue is more prominent. I don't want to cut into my lip for a revision for fear of it getting worse. I don't need it to be completely gone, but have the size would be nice. Any help would be appreciate. Thank you

Based on the photos alone and without an examination it appears that your deformity can be relatively easily treated by surgical excision just under local anesthesia. There is no need for a complex and expensive approach. Done properly, the upside improvement potential should far outweigh any risks.My recommendation would be for you to see a reputable board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in scar treatment.Steven Turkeltaub, MD
