Great question! There are some general guidelines, but overall, it depends on what surgical technique was used by your surgeon. Overall, I usually recommend 3 weeks before starting activity and by a month you can get back to your regular routine. Increasing your heart rate and blood pressure via exercise will increase your swelling and may temporarily increase the redness along the incision, so consult with your doc for a more detailed guide plan. Hope some of this helps!
Thanks for your question. I normally say that strenuous exercise can be resumed from 4- 6 weeks from the surgery. After two weeks you can start gentle low impact light exercise but this can slowly be increased form 2- 4 weeks such that by 4 weeks you are getting back to your presurgery workout regimen. You can start massaging the scar at this time also BW
Thanks for your question. Each surgeon has different preferences. In general, 2 weeks is the minimum before slowly returning to normal physical activities like exercising. You will most likely get different answers on this forum. The most important answer is from the surgeon who did your case! Warm regards.
Postoperatively, after a lip lift, you can anticipate bruising and swelling that will be noticeable to you and others for about 1 week. After the sutures are removed or dissolve, depending on the type used, there will be redness along the incision line for 4-6 weeks but this can be covered with makeup. Sometimes the upper lip lift is overcorrected with the initial procedure and will slowly assume its final position over weeks to months.Usually at 3 weeks you can resume full activity, but make sure to ask your surgeon first. Hope this helps.Gary Linkov, MD
Dear einna117,every plastic surgeon has his own postoperative protocol which he recommends to his patients. I would suggest you to discuss this with your plastic surgeon.Daniel Barrett, MDCertified, American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Plastic SurgeryMember, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery
Hi there and thank you for your question. It is a really important question, as strenuous exercise (like a good spin class) raises your blood pressure and this increases the overall swelling of the upper lip just like the risk for bleeding. As a rule of thumb you should wait with sports for 3 weeks, and then take it very easy as you get back to your work.out routine. Start with some light Yoga and see how your lip feels. If there is a significant increase of swelling, pain or it just feels more tender, you should wait at least one more week. The operated area will feel stiff for up to 8 weeks - that is part of the healing process. Good luck. Kind regards, GB
Thanks for your question.I would advise against any surgery if you are unwell - especially if you have a stomach bug - if this converts to diarrhoea and vomiting, then it will cause you more problems. Also, having surgery abroad, if there is a post-operative problem due to the bug and you get a...
Thank you for your question! To answer it shortly - too much hydrogen peroxide is bad. It destroys the cells that are actively trying to heal the wounded area. However, a dilute small amount of HP can keep crusting away. Keeping the crusting away is very important when it comes to healing. ...
Hi there and thank you for your question. There are only few occasions when combining a rhinoplasty with a lip lift during the same operation is not advisable. The first is the patient. If you are concerned that too many changes at the same time will stress you out too much, you should...
