Are Cellfina results permanent or is maintenance required?

Unlike other cellulite treatments such as Velasmooth, Accent, Exilis, Endermologie, Thermage, the Cellfina procedure does not require maintenance treatments.  The Cellfina procedure is a one session treatment for the appearance of cellulite on the buttocks and thighs. All other treatments are temporary because they simply treat cellulite externally with sound waves, laser or radio frequency waves. After treatment, the cellulite will return if maintenance treatments are not done. Cellfina cuts through the fibrous bands of cellulite which is causing the skin to dimple. Cellfina gives results which have been shown to last 3 years or more in one session without maintenance treatments. 

The best treatment for cellulite is Cellfina. However, a combination approach is needed to get the most improvement. I recommend Cellfina in combination with Sculptra injections and body treatments like Exilis Ultra, Venus Legacy, and Cellutone / ZWave. Cellfina treats cellulite and dimpling at the source -- the tethering septae under the skin.  Is allows a controlled release of these and therefore allows a much greater effectiveness of treatment with considerably less risk because of this precise control.Because Cellfina treats the actual mechanism responsible for cellulite, it is more permanent and more effective than other external skin treatments such as lasers, etc. I feel that it is the best option currently available for cellulite.Hope this helps,Nick Slenkovich MD, FACS

Cellfina received updated FDA approval this week. At the 3 year point patient satisfaction was at 93% with the results of Cellfina and the overall appearance of cellulite. While Cellfina is FDA approved with an indication for one year, the science behind Cellfina would suggest it would last much longer.  With Cellfina, the fibrous band between the skin and subcutaneous fat is cut so that the cellulite dimple is improved. 

Cellfina is an FDA approved minimally invasive procedure that reduces the appearance of cellulite for at least two years on the buttocks and back of the thighs of women.It works by releasing the internal bands that cause the cellulite dimpling and so we have not seen any fat atrophy. You should not see much of a difference with weight gain or loss but this also has not been studied.Other areas of the body with dimpling, it is important to make sure it is truly cellulite before treatment.It is common to have swelling bruising and firmness after the procedure. This can last for a few weeks.It is different than Cellulaze which is a laser. If you have had previous poor results with cellulaze, you can still do Cellfina.Cellfina has shown 100% noticeable improvement and 96% satisfaction in all patients at 2 years. Cellfina is designed to be a one time procedure.
