I had my forehead, above my brows and in my crows feet injected 6 days ago. The nurse injecting me allowed some botox to drip into my right eye. It freaked me out as this hasn't happened in 15 years of my getting botox treatments, but the nurse said it doesn't work topically, don't worry. The day after treatment, I got a bad headache and neck pain that has continued for 5 days now. I rarely get headaches. I've taken Advil which helps a bit, but now I feel like I have the flu! What's up? Thank-you!

Answer: Botox in eye I do not think this is going to harm you. We had this happen once during a training session and our patient was fine. Certainly the dose of Botox even if you absorbed the entire drop or two (or more)should be lower than a dose that would cause harm since the nurse probably only had a reasonable dose drawn up to administer. As to whether the headache is related I am uncertain.

Answer: Flu-like Symptoms After Botox is injected, it can migrate, sometimes for great distances. It can then cause symptoms such as those you describe. Please Google "Botox side effects" to verify this. While Botox may not act topically on skin, the eye may be a different matter all together. I am not aware of any reports of occular absorption of Botox, but you might want to google this as well. In any case, these symptoms should fade as the Botox starts to wear off. jlr
