Resumption of six after rhinoplasty is upon the recommendation of your own surgeon. In my opinion it could be resumed after a couple of days provided direct trauma to the nose can be avoided.
Thank you for the question! Like most surgeons, I would advise you to wait about 3 weeks before engaging in strenuous physical activities after rhinoplasty. Even if sexual activity poses no risk of nasal trauma, it might elevate your blood pressure and increase your heartbeat. This might exacerbate your swelling and even increase a chance of bleeding. An in-person exam with a board-certified plastic surgeon would be the best way to assess your needs and obtain expert medical advice. Best of luck!
That's a good question. The real answer is that it doesn't matter if you are having sex or doing any other activity - in the first few days you want to avoid any type of stress that might jostle your nose or raise your blood pressure since you don't want to get any bleeding started. After that you want to avoid activity where you might accidentally strike your nose and disrupt the reconstruction. Most repairs are pretty sticky by 3 - 4 weeks. By 6 weeks everything should be firmly healed.Ultimately you should check with your surgeon, in case something special or different was done. Best of luck to you and thanks for the interesting question.
Dear Dana, Each surgeon has specific directions for his patients post operative activities from diet and exercise to sex and should be discussed with your surgeon. In the beginning stages of recovery it is not a good idea to elevate your blood pressure or body temperature with extracurricular activities. Since you are a week post surgery if you were my patient I would advise you that yes you may return to sexual activities as long as you are careful not to cause any trauma to the nose. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.
Whatever you do, keep your head up! In general, patients resume sexual activities at 2 weeks after surgery. Of course, this depends on what type of sex you are talking about. Follow up with your Plastic Surgeon for his recommendation regarding sexual activities. Best wishes!
Hi and thnaks for your question. First, let me just say that I feel it's inappropriate for a surgeon to state that ypu have a very unfeminine face. What constitutes feminity? He or she could have said that your facial features could be more refined. From your photos I would disagree with the...
Thank you for your question! It is understandable that you are a concerned with what you feel especially with the "no change" after your surgery. The post op swelling is to be anticipated and every patient is a little different hence the possibility of explaining what you are experiencing...
Dear Harley, The best and most efficient way of doing your surgeries , financially and healing wise, is to do them at the same time by the same surgeon. Do your due diligence and I am sure that you will be able to find a surgeon who can perform both surgeries to your...
At 15, you are still in the midst of drastic changes to your appearance. You should not feel concerned about your lack of a strong chin or nose, as these will develop over time. As you grow older and your face takes on its adult shape, you can then reevaluate and consider augmenting your nose....
A firm feeling and numbness are common after rhinoplasty and are mostly related to swelling. At 16 months post-op I expect most of the swelling to be resolved. I would suggest following up with your surgeon for a personal evaluation to make sure all is healing normally.
Based on your history, you likely caused a subperiosteal bleed, resulting in bone formation, or at least scar formation. Pressure from glasses, even heavier ones, will not make this worse, unless you suffer another "bump" to your nose. Most nasal injuries are simply soft tissue ones, and will...
