I had a lumpectomy two months ago. My results were benign, however they did remove a large amount of tissue. About a week after surgery I had a hematoma, which they did not drain. My breast was about 4X the normal size.(34A) My breast has gone down to almost normal size, but I still have a hard lump and some numbness and soreness from the hemotoma. I want BA, and also an inverted nipple and assymetry from the lumpectomy corrected. How long do I need to wait?
Answer: Breast Augmentation after Lumpectomy?
Thank you for the question.
I would suggest that you wait at least 6 months before considering reconstruction. At that point, the involved breast will likely have reached a “steady state”; the appearance of the breasts and the asymmetry present can be evaluated more precisely. Breast reconstruction with implants may or may not be indicated depending on your examination at that time. In other words, given the likely contour “informally” after lumpectomy, breast implants alone may not adequately improve the breast asymmetry present.
When the time is right, in person consultation with well experienced board-certified plastic surgeons will be helpful to you.
Best wishes.

Answer: Wait until the hardness goes away before breast augmentation
Given the circumstances of your procedure and hematoma, I would wait a minimum of 6 months but it might be better to wait a year before having breast procedures including augmentation and correction of asymmetry. To be sure, see two or more board-certified plastic surgeons in your area for a full and complete evaluation to make sure you are a good candidate and that it is safe for you to have surgery. I hope this helps.

Answer: How Long Do I Have to Wait After Having a Lumpectomy to Have Breast Augmentation? The timeframe for undergoing breast augmentation after a lumpectomy can vary depending on several factors, including the extent of the lumpectomy, the individual's overall health, and the recommendations of the treating physicians. However, in general, it's advisable to wait at least six months to a year after a lumpectomy before considering breast augmentation. This waiting period allows for proper healing and recovery from the lumpectomy surgery and ensures that any potential complications have been addressed before undergoing elective breast augmentation. Additionally, it gives the tissues in the breast time to settle and stabilize, which can affect the outcome of the augmentation surgery. It's crucial to discuss your specific situation and concerns with your plastic surgeon, as they can provide recommendations based on your medical history and individual circumstances. They can also help you understand the risks and benefits associated with breast augmentation following a lumpectomy.
