How long will it take to recover from double eyelid surgery?

If the surgery is done closed with sutures, within a few days, most people will not notice you just had eyelid surgery.  Swelling will persist for about 6 weeks.  If the surgery is done open, it will be about 10 to 14 days before others stop noticing that you just had surgery.  Swelling can persist for 2 to 3 months.

You should allow two weeks for full recovery.  However, you will certainly be mobile and able to get out and about after the first few days.  Seek out a board certified plastic surgeon or oculoplastic surgeon with blepharoplasty expertise and experience. If you follow their preop and postop instructions carefully you will be up and around in a couple days.

The recovery time varies from patient to patient but in general recovery from blepharoplasty surgery is about 7-14 days.   Bruising, swelling, tired eyes and tightness are common  side effects after this surgery.  Bruising and swelling can last for 1-2 weeks after surgery.  Using cold compresses and keeping your head elevated after surgery helps to reduce swelling and bruising.  Make sure that you check with your surgeon before returning to exercise. 

Hello, and thank you sharing your question. Most people are able to return to work and other daily activities within 10 to 14 days after eyelid surgery. You should feel comfortable reading within 2 or 3 days, but should avoid putting on makeup or wearing contact lenses for two weeks. Avoid strenuous physical activity for at least the first three weeks. Keep in mind that your results can take anywhere from six months to a year to fully develop.
