Vertical striations/scratches after microneedling. How can I fix this? (Photo)

Question

I had microneedling with PRP done about 3 months ago and my skin hasn't been the same since. I now have vertical striations/scratch like lines running vertically down my forehead. The lines run horizontal on my cheeks and under eyes. I was anticipating great results and now my skin looks worse than ever. Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

Thanks for your question.  It looks unusual to me - I've never seen this happen from a properly done microneedling treatment.  I would encourage you to go to your board certified dermatologist who can examine your skin closely and help determine a regimen to help improve those areas.  Possibly some laser treatment and good skin care would be helpful but it would be best for analysis in person.  Best of luck!

I would perform nonablative laser resurfacing, such as the Fraxel Dual in this area. I think 1-2 should do the trick. I've not seen or heard of this before from microneedling.

Most motorized microneedling devices use a dragging or "gliding" technique that creates a "cat-scratch" pattern in the skin rather than the clean, more evenly distributed punctures seen with the vertical stamping motorized micro-needling machines. This can be compounded by the inflammation caused by combining the treatment with PRP because PRP is strongly pro-inflammatory which is not good.In my office, we use the ProCell Therapies system which combines motorized vertical stamping micro-needling with concentrated human growth factor serums made from human stem cells. These serums contain high concentrations of growth factors derived from human bone marrow stem cells and have been proven to be very anti-inflammatory.
