How long to be off aspirin and Plavix before eyelid surgery?

I recently asked this question, got good responses from MD's on Real Self. The reason for me having an eyelid lift is it is greatly impairing my vision. My ophthalmologist recommended the surgery to help me see. Both eyelids are covering half of each retina. One doctor on Real Self said he did not think I needed the surgery unless it was interfering in my vision. It is impairing my vision so badly, this is not for cosmetic purposes.

To ensure your overall health and maximal surgical safety, your surgeon should discuss this with your physician managing your asa and Plavix.  The length of time you can safely be off these anticoagulants will depend on your risk of a thromboembolic event and will best be determined by your treating physician.

You will be best off communicating with your plastic surgeon's office directly; the advice you receive online may not be exactly what your plastic surgeon will recommend.  In other words, best to follow your plastic surgeon's preoperative/postoperative instructions specifically. Best wishes with your upcoming surgery.
