I have always had the appearance of double chin regardless of my weight or age. I assume this is because of my slight overbite and heredity factors. I'm currently working on building myself as an actress and singer, so protecting my vocal chords and the way I produce sound is a top priority for me. I'm leaning more towards non-invasion options, but I'm also open to the idea of surgery. I just want to take the safest, most effective route. Thank you in advance for any advice!

Answer: Options to remove double chin Afull set of facial photographs and an in-person examination going to be required to make better determination about the best procedure for each individual patient. The limited photos from the side profile reveal a weak and recessive chin profile for which a chin implant can improve. The fatty deposits in the neck above the muscle can be removed liposuction. Fatty deposits below the platysma muscle must be removed with surgery which also requires a platysma plasty. none of these procedures will interfere with the vocal cords or the voicebox. For many examples of both surgical procedures performance separately and together, please see the link and the video below

Answer: Options to remove double chin without damaging vocal chords? There are many different options for the neck, and it depends on your preference for surgery/nonsurgical, and goals for results. Detailed in person exam is very important. However, you may be a candidate for closed liposuction with a chin implant. This combination will remove excess fat while maintaining contour, and also bring balance to your lower face. After that surgery, most patients require just tylenol for a couple days for pain. Kybella and coolsculpt may be options as well for the neck, and after the multiple treatments, you can likely get a similar result. Fillers as well could be used for the chin area to simulate an implant. For some patients, the time off from surgery is too much (generally a few days at home, at work in 10 days) while others want the long-term results from surgery (which is also generally less expensive). All of the above procedures are superficial to your delicate vocal structures, and therefore would not affect them. I wish you success!
