I'm a dark skinned individual with acne scars. My Doctor said I need to use isotretinoin for 4 weeks and stop it for a week before beginning Co2 Laser treatment for acne scar. Why is this? I heard isotretinoin is not recommended before Co2 treatment.

Thank you for your question. CO2 is used to tighten the skin and reduce pigmentation. it is recommended to pretreat with a topical hydroquinone to prevent hypopigmentation. wait 6 months to see if your concerns resolve. co2 results take up to 6 months.
