Question

I want a rhinoplasty but would also like to make my receding jaw more forward and masculine. Although my mouth naturally falls open and I have a bit of a gummy smile, my teeth align quite well (I think – see photo) and I have no functional problems. I also don’t really know where to start in terms of who to see (orthodontist, maxillofacial surgeon or plastic surgeon). I also don’t mind having braces for a few years if it corrects my jaw. Am open to all procedures. Thanks for any responses.

By looking at the pictures you have sent, there are a combination of procedures you could try.

In my opinion, Submental Liposuction, which is Liposuction to the lower face, and the insertion of an implant, will give very satisfactory aesthetic results.

Thank you for sharing the photos. You are likely to get a dramatic improvement with a rhinoplasty and chin implant or genioplasty. If your teeth align well and you do not intend to changing this, you do not really need to get an orthodontist involved. In my opinion a genioplasty would serve you better as this could not only enhance your chin projection and improve jawline definition, but it can also increase your lower facial height, giving you a more chiseled and masculine look. Do your research well and find a surgeon who offers these combinations frequently and can offer a diverse option for chin enhancement rather than "one approach fits all". You will benefit by preferably having both surgeries done at the same time as you are likely to save on costs significantly.

Assuming you are content with your bite, the focus would be on aesthetic changes to the jawline. Of which there are multiple approaches which could include a sliding genioplasty with jaw angle implants or a total custom jawline implant. Given your chin/jawline asymmetry I would favor the latter which would be more effective in correcting it. The jawline procedure could be combined with the rhinoplasty. Computer imaging will help you better understand these types of facial changes.
