Can my tummy tuck scar lowered? (Photo)

Question

My surgeon plans on doing some lipo above my scar and revising the vertical scar as there is some loose skin above the vertical scar in January when I’ll be 6 mths post op. However he is adamant the long horizontal scar cannot be lowered, even if I wait till 1 year post op. Will Lipo result in some loose skin? I would like the scar lowered by 1 inch, is it really impossible to achieve this?

Looking at your photographs, it doesn't look as if there is very much laxity above the scar and it is unlikely that you will get significantly lower scar, even if your surgeon tries to remove tissue below the scar and pull it down. It is difficult to comment specifically as the main factor here is the looseness in the skin above the scar when compared with the skin below the scar. This is something you can really only determined by physical examination. Your surgeon feels that your scar won't go any lower, it is probably because the skin below your scar is quite loose and further excision will only result in pulling that skin upwards, rather than the scar downwards. I hope that makes sense and my advice to you is probably to leave your scar to mature. As it fades, it should become less of a problem  for you.

Dear zara123,Thank you for posting pictures with your question. Lipo it a great idea to make your skin looser and will be possible to lower it. I recommend you to also try to shorten the vertical scar as well for a more pleasant result. Best wishes.
