Is it true that you must not use steroids for 3 months prior to IPL treatment?

Hi, I have been using topical steroids for eczema since I was a child. I have recently noticed broken capillaries on my face and having seen a dermatologist she mentioned it was probably down to my steroid use. I am looking to have IPL to get rid of these broken veins, however someone mentioned to me that I must not use the steroid creams from 3 months prior to treatment. Is this the case?

I agree with Dr. Emer that IPL is unlikely to cause wrinkles on the skin. Transient burns and overpigmentation of the skin when used on darker skin types are more common. Best, Dr. Karamanoukian Los Angeles

Hyperpigmentation after IPL may occur for two reasons:1) as a result of inflammation. This usually happens if the skin was burned, and a scab or blister formed.2) If there is a history of melasma. Melasma can actually be made worse by an IPL treatment.Although I can't give you specific advice...

I see this very often with poorly done IPL or IPL used on skin types or patients who shouldnt be treated with IPL.  Fractional laser such as clear and brilliant or RF such as sublative are very useful with appropriate skin care.  I suggest seeing a laser expert for an evaluation. ...
