Was told can't use minoxidil for 1 year after hair transplant? (Photo)

Question

I had a hair transplant 2 months a go on the front of my head and middle, but not the crown and I was going to use a product called Herbal H which has 3% minoxidil just for my crown to thicken it, but my hair surgeon told me not to use minoxidil for one year, any reasons why I would like to hear other doctors opinions on this. Thanks.

I permit my patients to resume minoxidil the very next day to any areas that were not transplanted, and in those transplanted, to apply minoxidil starting 3 weeks after.

I usually let my patients use minoxidil a week after hair transplant surgery.  However, I am not familiar with the Herbal H product, so perhaps your surgeon may know more details and hence made his/her recommendation.  Best to trust your surgeon and follow his/her instructions.

Great question, I know nothing about Herbal-H and I do respect other opinions but I recommend all my patients to restart applying topical Minoxidil 5-6 days after the hair transplant. I usually recommend Minoxidil 5% foam or solution twice a day. Good luck.

If you were on minoxidil prior to the hair transplant, then you may have minoxidil dependent hair and then should take it. IF not, minoxidil does not add value to the new hair growth
