Thinning hair/bald patches in young woman. What are my options?

I have always had thin hair but I've noticed in the last few years that my scalp is becoming more exposed from certain angles, which doesn't look good against my dark hair. I'm a 22 year old woman, is my hair actually falling out? I've looked into hair transplants and scalp micro pigmentation but I don't know what would be most effective. What are my options?
