I’m an Asian woman who’s petite in general but have a round face with Masseter muscles that contribute to making it semi-square shaped, also have a bit of sagging jowls, double chin, chubby cheeks. What’s the best non-surgical way to achieve a more v-shaped, contoured face? I heard Ultherapy, HIFU, Botox/Fillers work for these but which one gives the best results/most risk free? (Read that facial nerve damage is identified with Ultherapy, HIFU & am not sure the side effects of Botox/Fillers)
Answer: Nonsurgical Treatments for Facial Contouring While it is difficult to make a recommendation without at least a few photos, I can tell you that injections of Botox into the masseter muscles are simple and an excellent way to slim down the jawline. It is particularly effective for Asian patients that often have a square jawline they would like to improve. The procedure does require precision in placement and dosing amount to achieve the best possible result, so make sure the doctor you choose for your treatment is both experienced and board certified. Another option for creating a V-shape might be to add volume to the chin and outer cheeks, which can be accomplished using injectable dermal fillers. This helps raise up the sagging jowls. I have a technique I call the picket fence, which can be added to the cheek to reduce chubbiness and enhance the contour. The Silhouette InstaLift with threads is also a favorite with Asian patients to reshape the face and lift up. However, I would need to see you in person to determine whether this procedure would create proportion and balance with the rest of your facial features. I would look for a dermatologist who is experienced in working with Asian patients to ensure the results you achieve are both natural and beautiful.

Answer: Mini Facelift & Mini neck lift -- FaceTite RF for internal skin tightening + Neck Liposuction for definition/contouring FaceTite can internally tighten the skin in the lower face and neck. After all the skin has been heated and contracted, we shape the neck with liposuction to give definition and remove stubborn pockets of fat. In one quick treatment, we can tighten skin, remove fat, and contour the lower face, jawline, and jowls with only a weekend of downtime. Keep in mind that combination approaches will give you a more significant improvement as opposed to a single procedure. I recommend getting a consultation with a board-certified cosmetic dermatologist and facial sculpting expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: V line facial shaping Hi Kimmy, Many asians have a constitutional predisposition for stronger and squarer jawlines, partly bony, and partly muscle in aetiology. To address your concerns, I would suggest Botox for the masseter muscles first, followed by Ultherapy 3 to 4 weeks later to address the midlower face. That should contour the jawline and lift/tighten some skin. To get a more V line face shape, there is also the option of a hyaluronic acid filler with good structural effect such as Allergan Volux or Restylane Defyne for the chin. For the cheeks and midface, I either use Allergan's Voluma or insert rejuvenating dissolvable threads to rejuvenate and volumise the midface naturally. If the skin is very lax or if you are seeking a more dramatic lift, you can choose to have a midlower face threadlift +/- Ultherapy and Botox for the masseter muscles. I hope this helps!

Answer: Best Procedures for V-Shaped Face Excellent question!! I get asked this a lot. To create a more v-shaped face with minimal downtime and little risk, I would recommend Botox to the neck and masseter muscles. As a speaker and trainer for Ultherapy, I would also recommend Ultherapy to lift and contour the jawline. It is very safe and in the hands of an experienced practitioner, there is very little chance of injuring the facial nerve. Additionally, fillers such as Voluma, or Radiesse, can help to lift and contour the cheek. This will give the face a more oval or heart-shaped appearance. Filler to the chin may also give you more contour. It is best to see a board certified plastic surgeon to have an in person assessment.
