Can dissolving filler in the nose affect the natural collagen?

Question

I recently had a non surgical nose job and juverderm filler was injected, however I am unhappy with the result, I would like to get it reversed but the lady dr who performed the procedure in the first place. Has never dissolved the nose area fillers with hyaluronidase. And isn’t confident in doing so as she’s saying it could dissolve the natural collagen. Is there any way to avoid this from Happening? And will I be able to have it reversed - it’s making my life hell.

Many times, people will come to us for a rhinoplasty surgery consultation after having received HA fillers. When that happens, we may ask these people to have their filler dissolved. In our experience, nasal HA dissipates within 48 hours, when performed properly. If the appearance of your nose is making you miserable after HA, please consider getting a second opinion from another reputable facial plastic surgeon. Hi and thanks for your question. I'm sorry that you are not happy with your result. Dissolving Juvederm in the nose will never harm your tissues. Your body is constantly producing natural hyaluronic acid, so although the enzyme will dissolve both the Juvederm and some of your hyaluronic acid, your body will replace whatever got dissolved in a matter of hours. I suggest that you get a consultation from an injector experienced with Non Surgical Rhinoplasty. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the question, and I'm sorry to hear you're not happy with your result - usually a full consultation prior to treatment would give a clear idea of what can be achieved. There is no reason why a hyaluronic acid filler cannot be dissolved using hyaluronidase in the nose as it can anywhere else.. Hyaluronidase does not dissolve collagen, it dissolves hyaluronic acid only. It is true that it may dissolve some of your own hyaluronic acid, but as this is made and broken down naturally over a short period of time this should not cause any appreciable problem. Best of luck.

Doctors and surgeons often add hyaluronidase to local anaesthetic injections to help the anaesthetic spread out and they do not see this affecting local native tissues in the long run.
Personally, I have treated several patients who have been unhappy with their results under other aesthetic nurses, doctors etc. In every case I have dissolved the existing filler without affecting the natural tissue. One patient chose to live with their nose as they did before any treatment but all the others have gone onto have very good results with revision treatment.
If your current practitioner is not confident in this area, I would suggest seeing someone who is more experienced.
