Is it safe to use steroid injections solely for slimming the nose (non-surgical rhinoplasty)?

Question

Is it safe to undergo a non-surgical slimming nose procedure, which uses a “lipolytic mesococktail, consisting of ginkgo biloba, phosphatidylcholine, artichoke” treatment solely for making my nose smaller? Some clinics use 1-3 injections with an interval of two weeks but after the course of procedures there is risk of unevenness and hollows (supposedly can be corrected using filler.) Are they any other side effects I should be concerned with (I have thick skin)?

Please avoid this nonstandard treatment! The nasal skin is delicate. Do not risk it getting disrupted with the strange cocktail!Instead, see a plastic surgeon. We surgically treat wide noses all the time with excellent, predictable results.

Generally, a wide nasal appearance is due to underlying wideness of the bone and cartilage of the nose. Sometimes, a wide nasal appearance is due to excessively thick and oily nasal skin. I don’t know if the cocktail described will do what you want. I also can’t tell you that it’s harmless. It probably is harmless but don’t know for sure. Don’t waste your money.

I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist to go over your desired results. Facial fillers (like Voluma, Restylane, Juvederm) can be used to improve the symmetry of the nose, but surgery would be needed to improve nostrils or overall shape. Best to see an expert. - Dr. Emer

A steroid, such as Kenalog, can be helpful post rhinoplasty to decrease swelling and reduce scar tissue formation, however, steroid injections without surgery are likely to do nothing. If something sounds too good to be true, it likely is. The best procedure to slim the nose is a surgical rhinoplasty. I highly recommend seeking a board certified plastic surgeon or facial plastic surgeon for an in-person consultation. It is important to do your research and look at each provider's before and after pictures.

Dear Honest6227, Do not have these injections to your nose. It is not safe to have these unknown injections into the nose and have possible divots that will then require fillers.
