Safe to laser where a metal rod is in the leg?

It is perfectly fine to have laser over the area of the rod. The laser only penetrates about a mm and doesn't get past the skin. The rod is much deeper than the laser goes and won't have any effect on the treatment.

The laser will not penetrate deep enough to interact with the metal rod.  A diode laser will only penetrate to the depth of the hair follicles.
