Post Vaser lipo am I supposed to drink more water than normal or is this making it difficult for the swelling to go down?

VASER especially if hi definition causes a lot of swelling , drinking water doesn't change the swelling. If you are concerned, adding an oral diuretic or a foam dressing under the compression may help.  Keep doing the MLD thearapy and consider adding venus legacy or velashape.  Best, Dr. Emer.

The water intake is fine.  Your body will adjust.  The garment is keep the  swelling under control so please stick with the one you have.  Look at you skin carefully to make sure that there are no creases or indentations from the garment.

After a surgery such as liposuction, the body tends to develop swelling or edema not only in the areas treated but sometimes in other areas as well. This is referred to as third spacing. The maximum swelling is typically seen three to five days after the procedure. At that point, the third spacing reverses. During the swelling or third spacing phase of healing, the body requires more fluid. Once swelling has maxed out, the fluid flow is reversed, and less fluid intake is actually required. In reality, after liposuction, this is typically not sufficient as to lead a patient to compensate by drinking excess water. Following your own thirst is typically sufficient. With very high-volume liposuction, typically defined as greater than 5 L, fluid management can become an issue that requires medical attention. At this point, drinking water will only make you go to the bathroom more often. Even during the initial phase of swelling, drinking water will not change how your body swells or does not swell. You should talk to your plastic surgeon in regards to using the correct pressure garment. There is little science supporting the use of pressure garments or how long they should be used. You will find a substantial discrepancy among plastic surgeons on how and how long pressure garments should be used after liposuction. I do not believe they are nearly as important as people make them out to be. I do not believe long-term outcomes are affected in any way by their use. We do use pressure garments after liposuction but not as long as others. Our typical protocol is to wear them for one week continuously except for when taking a shower. After that, patients can wear them for 12 hours on and 12 hours off.
