I plan to have two surgeries in my holiday. A hair transplant under local anesthesia on the 24 of December and a Rhinoplasty under general anesthesia on the 9 of January. Will it be safe. Can they be done at these days , and would the swelling from one effects the other one ? And which u think I should do first ?
Answer: Hair transplant and rhinoplasty Thank you for your question. Both procedures can be a very rewarding in their outcomes. Separating the procedures like you have can be safe. You should have quite a bit of swelling from the hair transplant that will resolve within the first several days to a week. It should definitely be resolved by the rhinoplasty. The rhinoplasty should not affect the hair transplant. However, depending on how much recovery time you have budgeted, you may want to consider the rhinoplasty first since you will be wearing an external (and sometimes internal) splint depending on what maneuvers are done as part of the rhinoplasty. The hair transplant can transpire with less visible downtime. In addition, the follicular unit extraction technique is easier to recover from and does not leave a visible scar. I would recommend that you visit with a board certified plastic surgeon that provides both procedures to help you make an informed decision about your procedures, their sequence and timing.

Answer: Hair transplantation before rhinoplasty surgery In my practice for the patients who are willing to have hair surgery and rhinoplasty I advice them first having the hair transplantation .As I'm performing mostly Fue surgery there is no chance to have the rhinoplasty before the hair surgery as a result of laying on your face down for the extraction of the grafts.Minimum time for rhinoplasty after the hair transplantation should be 3 days.So this gives enough time for the transplantated hair to settle but best option is 8-9 days after the hair transplantation. As the transplanted hair will settle totally and the possible post operative swelling after the HT has already been gone.I believe on 16-17 January you will looking socially acceptable and will have no sign of both surgeries.good luck with your surgeries

Answer: Rhinoplasty and hair transplantation It is acceptable to undergo a hair transplant and a rhinoplasty 2 weeks apart. The nose may have a small amount of edema present, so best to tell your operative surgeon about that.

Answer: Rhinoplasty after hair transplant Adam1987, Thank you for your question. I do not think having the rhinoplasty 16 days after the hair transplant should be an issue as far as swelling is concerned. Some patients that have hair transplantation in the frontal forelock area can get forehead swelling that involves the upper eyelid and bridge of the nose but this usually resolves by a week out. Rhinoplasty swelling is usually localized to the nose and cheeks. I would recommend doing the hair transplant followed by the rhinoplasty (per your plan) as I would think it might be uncomfortable to sit through the hair transplantation under local with just having had a rhinoplasty. Depending on how much internal work is done during the rhinoplasty there can be swelling and crusting that makes it uncomfortable to breath. Good luck with your upcoming surgery. Answer: Hair transplant and rhinoplasty The hair transplant surgery is an extensive procedure. In general, patients experience facial swelling that can that affect the results of the rhinoplasty. It would be advised to do the surgeries in the order you have chosen with the designated time in between. If you are having the surgeries performed by different surgeons, be sure they are aware of your different surgeries if they do not already know. All the best,Dr. ResultsMiami, FL
