Hello, I was wondering how long I should wait for a facelift after having a sliding genioplasty for weak chin? I can’t have them done together due to different surgeons performing each procedure. Thank you.
Answer: Facelift after sliding genioplasty I appreciate your inquiry. When elective procedures are staged, the amount of time between surgeries will depend in large part on how long it takes swelling to go down from the initial procedure. If you don’t allow that to occur, the surgeon performing the facelift will not have an accurate baseline to work with when making corrections to the lower jawline. For most patients, three months is a good rule of thumb in terms of waiting for a subsequent procedure. However, some patients may need to wait just a bit longer to ensure an optimal outcome from both surgeries. Best wishes for safe surgeries and a healthy recovery process!

Answer: Facelift after sliding genioplasty, how long to wait? These two procedures can be combined or facelift may be scheduled 6 months after the genioplasty. The latter would be more advisable. Genioplasty reconstructs the chin bone, which is where the muscles attach. Therefore, having both procedures done at one time might not give you the best result, although the success rate depends on the patient's rate of recovery and the skill of the surgeon.
