Hello, I was wondering how long I should wait for a facelift after having a sliding genioplasty for weak chin? I can’t have them done together due to different surgeons performing each procedure. Thank you.

Answer: Timing of face lift This is best to address with your surgeons. As soon as swelling after genioplasty is gone you could proceed with face lift surgery. Why not consider face lift and chin implant augmentation in the same time? Good luck.

In my opinion, I would want any swelling from the genioplasty resolved before doing the facelift. I would think that about 3 months would be sufficient but everyone heals differently, so it would be important to monitor your recovery after the genioplasty.

Genioplasty reconstructs the chin bone, which is where the muscles attach. Therefore, having both procedures done at one time might not give you the best result, although the success rate depends on the patient's rate of recovery and the skill of the surgeon.
