Botox resistance - taking a break helps?

Question

I have read that taking 2-3 years off from Botox can make it effective again. Does anyone have experience with a resistant patient seeing results after taking time off from injections?

If Botox is not an option for you, Dysport or Xeomin are the next options. I suggest dermarolling at home to give the skin Botox-like effects with at-home treatment. See an expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Have you thought about trying a Botox variant, like Dysport? We have seen a handful of patients who did not respond to Botox treatment after years of having the procedure, but we have since successfully treated them with Dysport.

If you have become resistant to Botox you may want to try a different neuromodulator such as Dysport or Daxxify.  Each is formulated a little differently.  If none are effective taking a break from neuromodulators for several months may be helpful.

If you are resistant to the effects of a neurotoxin, it is very likely that you may have a neutralizing antibody. If you have a neutralizing antibody, it is there whether its 2-3 years or 10 years plus. We find changing the specific neuromodulator, has helped to restore the result or efficacy. ie: try a different product (Botox, Dysport, Jeuveau)

If you have resistance to Botox then you should try Dysport or Juveau.  Waiting doesn't allow the Botox to work any better.  Please consult an expert in Botox for the best cosmetic results. Best, Dr. Green

There is a very small group of patients that develops resistance to Botox. Majority of the same patients also develop resistance to Xeomin, Dysport and other Botox like neuromodulators. I have found that these same groups of patients can still be treated with Myobloc (completely different and very effective type of botulinum toxin). If Myobloc on the other hand becomes ineffective, that means that you have developed antibodies and even taking a rest for a few years is not going to change the situation.
