Botox administration is not advised during pregnancy although this is a common scenario. Ensure you do not have any further Botox treatments. Congratulations!
Thank you for your question. I would not worry too much if you had Botox and found out you were pregnant. Botox works locally where it was injected and the dosing is very small. The makers of Botox would never consider sponsoring a study to see the safety of Botox during pregnancy or breast feeding as it would be too risky for them. Likewise, for physicians. I generally provide reassurance for situations like yours and I do recommend that you stop any future injectable treatments until either the baby is born and after breast feeding. I would also let you OB know that you had a Botox treatment during pregnancy so they are aware.
Botox has not been studied in pregnancy, so we don't know what the effect is. However, the concentration is very small and the injection is so localized that the likelihood is very low that you harmed your baby.
Women are pregnant or breast feeding have not been studied for botox. However, your situation is quite common, and no reported adverse effects have been reported. Do not have another treatment while you are pregnant or breast feeding. However, I would not worry about your prior treatment either.
Dear Kamila, Congratulations! While Botox is not recommended forwomen who are breast feeding or pregnant, the concentration is low and theinjection is localized. This makes the likelihood very low that you harmed yourbaby. Do not get any more injections until you arefinished with your pregnancy and/or breastfeeding, and enjoy your baby!
Botulinum toxin A(botox) carries a Class C recommendation during pregnancy meaning that while nostudies have shown adverse effects in fetal growth, its risk during pregnancyalso cannot be completely ruled out. Fortunately the effects of botox when usedfor cosmetic purposes are very localized to the face, and the likelihood of itcausing harm to your baby is exceedingly low. I would certainly advise you toavoid the further use of botox until after your pregnancy and you have finishedbreastfeeding. While you should not be overly worried at this time, it may be reassuringto discuss your concerns with your obstetrician to ensure the best care foryour baby moving forward.
Hi,I don't think you should worry too much with inadvertant botox injections around pregnancy.the dose is too small and localised for you to have a systemic effectwarm regardsDr Prashant
Unlikely but there is really no point in this question as there is nothing to do. I would suggest refraining from further treatments until you are done with breast feeding.
You will be just fine. Do not do more Botox until your have your baby. Botox is not recommended during pregnancy but do not lose any sleep I have had some patients experience this same thing and all did fine. I have never heard of any connection between Botox and pregnancy problems. My Best, Dr C
Botox is not recommended for women who are breast feeding or pregnant. However, as you can imagine this type of thing can be unavoidable and happens all the time. I have never heard of Botox causing a problem with a pregnancy. The amount of Botox the travels through your system in a typical cosmetic treatment is very small and very unlikely to cause a problem. The bottom line is that I wouldn't worry about this. However, to reassure your self I would discuss this with your obstetrician so that he/she can help put your mind at ease.
