Hi, I have a very deep and distinct alar crease, specially visible from the profile. Is it possible to get this "removed" or totally reduced in visibility during a rhinoplasty? One surgeon mentioned this is not possible to "change" this as it's genetics. Is this correct? Thanks in advance!
Answer: Alar crease It is not possible to precisely comment without seeing a photograph but in general terms a distinct crease probably arise from thick alar lobule skin - this is the bit of the nostril that joins the cheek. Taking skin out of this area to make it thinner carries significant risks of visible scars. If this were to happen revising it would be very difficult. I think in principle it would be best to take the advice of the surgeon you have seen.
