Possible to have an alar crease reduction?

Hi, I have a very deep and distinct alar crease, specially visible from the profile. Is it possible to get this "removed" or totally reduced in visibility during a rhinoplasty? One surgeon mentioned this is not possible to "change" this as it's genetics. Is this correct? Thanks in advance!

There is always an option to try to surgically modify one of your nasal features, however the gentle curves and characteristic junction between the alar rim and cheek is extremely difficult to replicate once surgical manipulation has been performed. Meaning, it would look very strange. I personally think that irregularities, abnormalities and scars from surgery in that area look worse than the pre existing feature. Take your surgeon's advice and leave this alone.

Without photos it is very difficult to give you specific advice. Generally speaking, it is very hard to alter the depth of the alar crease. This would be best discussed with an in-person consultation. Find a board certified expert in nasal surgery to review the options. Best of luck.

It is not possible to precisely comment without seeing a photograph but in general terms a distinct crease probably arise from thick alar lobule skin - this is the bit of the nostril that joins the cheek.  Taking skin out of this area to make it thinner carries significant risks of visible scars.  If this were to happen revising it would be very difficult.  I think in principle it would be best to take the advice of the surgeon you have seen.
