Face elongation, what are my options? (photo)

Hi I'm 24 years old, as you can see from my photo I look considerably younger. This bothers me so much. I feel that I have a very small round shaped face which lacks cheekbone and chin bone. Are there any treatments that would be an option. Thanks

Without an exam your question cannot be answered.  You will need to see an Oral/Maxillofacial surgeon to see if othognathic surgery, genioplasty or using an implant is best for your specific case. It should be noted that patients with severely weak jaws or abnormally functioning jaws may be better treated with other facial surgery (orthognathic surgery), although a chin augmentation may be an option at a later time. These patients should seek the advice of a plastic surgeon to determine which course is right for them. Many of these candidates have used injectable fillers in the past to strengthen the protrusion of their chins, but are looking for a permanent solution. Based on minimal information this single photo provides there are  few options that you may consider. Rhinoplasty would make your bulky nose tip and dorsum more refined and thinner which will contribute to  elongation effect of central vertical third of your face. Conservative removal of buccal fat from your cheek would create more narrow appearance of horizontal middlel third of the face. Finally, a small chin implant may contribute to actual elongation and further narrowing of the lower third of your face. You should seek a consultation with an experienced board certified plastic surgeon with good reputation in facial rejuvenation for detailed analysis and discuss your options. Good luck.

The best method to elongate your lower face is with a vertical lengthening bony genioplasty. Your chin is flat across the bottom and vertically short. Lengthening your chin by 8 to 10mms would give your face more of a heart-shape. You could even combine facial defatting with it to add to the effect as well.

Hi, I have performed many facial shaping procedures using dermal fillers, facial implants (cheek, chin), liposuction and/or facelifts for over 30 years.  Non smiling photos of your face from the front and side would be the best for evaluation.  Smiling photos push facial fat up onto the cheeks changing their shape and fullness.  From the photos, I suspect that your cheeks are flat in the front, there is excess fat in the mid and lower face, the lips are quite thin and the nose is a bit wide along its entire length.  From the smiling front photos, its difficult to determine if the chin is indeed weak but this can be verified with a non smiling side (profile) photos.  These factors combine to create a rectangularly shaped face.  
 Following my facial beauty beauty principles that I've developed over the past 30 years, women look the most feminine, youthful and attractive with heart shaped faces.  Heart shaped faces have cheeks that are full and round in the front.  Cheek augmentation using cheek implants for a permanent enhancement will create full, round cheeks that will feminize the entire face.  Liposuction would be combined to decrease the excess fat thereby further shaping the cheeks and face.
 I have performed many Chin Augmentations using chin implants for over 30 years.  I the chin is weak, this will create an imbalance making the nose appear larger, the mid face top heavy and the lower face look short that de-emphasizes the lips and allows early formation of a double chin.  Chin augmentation using a chin implant will add projection to the chin creating harmony and balance to the lower face. 
 I have found that placement of a silastic chin implant, through a small curved incision under the chin (also allows excess skin removal) to be very safe, quick, highly effective and far less invasive than a sliding genioplasty.  I perform chin implant surgery in 30 minutes or less, often using a local anesthetic alone.  
 The lips are thin and can be augmented and softened by making them fuller with the proper aesthetic proportion.  My beauty principles outline full, beautiful lips are ideally proportioned when the upper lip is approximately 75% as full as the lower lip which creates a pleasing pout.  Dermal filler or permanent lip implants can be used to augment the lips.   Finally, a Closed Rhinoplasty can thin and refine the body and tip of the nose making it more sleek and naturally attractive.
