I am thinking about getting a lipoma removed off of my back, between my spinal cord and my right shoulder blade. It's about the size of my hand, and I'm wondering how long will it take to recover? Are there any restrictions?

You cannot be sure that it is a lipoma. It could be an infected sebaceous cyst which are more common in the scalp than lipomas.
You can to to a general surgeon, a plastic surgeon, an otolaryngologist, a facial plastic surgeon.
First you need to stop touching it without washing hands, start oral...
As a general rule, I do not prescribe antibiotics either before, or after lipoma removal. In my practice the procedure is performed in an on-site accredited OR where the conditions are clean and the procedure is performed in a sterile manner.
If the lipoma is really this big, I am not sure that there is that much alternative to surgical excision, which could be accomplished under local anesthesia and which may be affordable.
