Ptosis repair and recovery time line. Is 4 -5 months enough time to fully recover?

I have congenital unilateral ptosis that I am interested in having repaired. I am wondering what the time line is on the recovery with the Muller's technique? I am getting married in about 4-5 months so I would like a professional's opinion as to whether there is enough time to have the procedure done now or if it is best to wait until after the wedding.

Thank you for your question, and congratulations on your upcoming wedding. When it comes to surgical planning&mdash;especially for something as visible as eyelid symmetry&mdash;timing is essential.
For mild to moderate congenital unilateral ptosis, the Müller’s muscle-conjunctival resection (MMCR) technique is often chosen for its relatively short recovery period and internal approach, which avoids an external scar.
That said, even though healing from this procedure tends to be faster than traditional external levator repairs, swelling, asymmetry, or lid position fluctuation can still occur in the early weeks. In many cases, the initial swelling subsides within 2–3 weeks, but refinements in contour and final lid height may continue to evolve over 2–3 months.
If you’re considering having the surgery before your wedding, it’s generally advisable to allow at least 3–4 months between the procedure and any major events, particularly those involving close-up photography. This allows time for both functional recovery and aesthetic refinement.
A consultation with a specialist in eyelid surgery would help assess whether your case is suitable for MMCR and what the most realistic timeline would look like for you.
