What treatments would you recommend? I was considering IPL and microneedling. I was diagnosed with rosacea 3 years ago and have struggled with accepting my appearance ever since. I suffer with redness and extreme blushing - but my biggest hate is the texture of my skin..my pores are so defined and there seems to be nothing I can do, not even makeup will improve it.

Answer: Superficial Chemical Peels &/Or Professional Microneedling Help To Improve Skin Texture & Tone For decades, high concentration solutions of glycolic acid and salicylic acid, Jessner's solution, and low concentrations (10%-25%) have been used successfully and safely (even in skin of color) for treating dilated pores, acne, superficial acne scars, oily skin, as well as a variety of skin color and texture problems. Likewise, for over two decades, professional medical microneedling has also been successfully used for treating many of these problems. In more resistant cases, both procedures may be needed to achieve optimal improvement. Make sure however that you consult with a board certified aesthetic physician with experience and expertise in the proper use of these peeling agents. Best of luck.

Answer: IPL, Microneedling, other Treatments for Rosacea Thanks for your question - you're on a great track. IPL, particularly BBL (a great brand of IPL - some systems just aren't that good) is a great treatment for rosacea. There are also often things a good medical office can help you with diet, skincare and prescription topicals. In our experience microneedling is desperately overrated by offices that find it to be a good profit center with almost no start-up or staffing costs. In rosacea it tends to increase, not decrease the root causes with no benefit. We use Halo laser which also makes small holes, but can decrease inflammation and vascularity.
