I was bumped in the chest about 2 weeks post op ftm top surgery. I have noticed new swelling in my chest. The swelling is along the lower peck near the incision lines. When i put pressure on my chest the fluid moves around. Is this something I should be concerned with? Should the swelling go down in a few days? My chest is sore but that's it.

Answer: Fluid Thank you for your question. It appears as though you may have serums. You should contact your surgeon as soon as possible to have these drained. This is a quick in office procedure. Your surgeon may leave drains in place. Your surgeon may also suggest that you leave significant compression for several days following removal of fluid.

Answer: Swelling Post-op It sounds like you have a seroma which is a build up of wound fluid in the pocket where the breast tissue used to be. This is not uncommon after FTM surgery and it is easy for your Plastic Surgeon or Nurse to aspirate away the fluid. This is well tolerated and just like a blood test really. I would get this sorted now to relieve any discomfort and promote your healing, all the best.
