I had peri-areola 4 months ago with an incredible doctor, the reveal was near perfect but my healing has been very turbulent, including stretching of my right areola scar. Unfortunately i'm not happy with how much tissue is left and how uneven the chest seems, as well as a noticable indent on the right side. Would it be possible to improve these results from my surgeon? I do have another appointment in 2 months but would appreciate some peace of mind. Thank you
Answer: Give it up to a year . . . . . . and your scars may fade nicely, but it is more likely you will want a revision both of the scar hypertrophy (thickness/widening, although the redness may fade and render those issues less-pronounced), but also to make your areolae smaller. (However, the problem with periareolar approaches is that it puts too much tension on the nipple, and you may be recreating the same issues. A permanent "pursestring" suture at the margin may help, however, as may the conservative use of steroid and the fact that there should be somewhat less tension the second time around). Hope this helps!

Answer: Top surgery revision yes I would think those results could be improved but it would depend on how you surgeon did your initial surgery because you don't want to interrupt the blood supply to your areolas. Liposuction might improve it, as well as weight-training to build up the upper part of your pectoralis muscle to improve the overall aesthetics of the result

Answer: #Peri-areola Top surgery Hi Anon. Very sorry to hear that you are not happy with your result. Thank you for sharing your photos. It is possible to improve your results with revision surgery - nipple and areola reduction, liposuction with possibly excision of some residual breast tissue on both sides. You have good skin so I would expect that you should achieve a good male chest. Hope you are a NON-SMOKER as smoking is a major factor which will compromise your outcome. Hope that this is helpful. Good luck.

Answer: TOP Surgery Revision Hi, Thanks for the post and photos. You will need a revision but I recommend you wait until you are at least one year post op. You have hypertrophic scars that need time to settle. You will also need areolar reduction. I would strongly recommend scar therapy after your next surgery especially if you did not use any after the first one. Take comfort in the fat that your overall result is good and can be made even better by an areolar reduction that can be performed under local anesthesia.Sincerely,Dr. Dadvand

Answer: Better results with revision Thank you for your inquiry. Your results illustrate the weaknesses of the peri-areolar technique. The attempt to remove the excess skin places too much pull on the scars, leading to wide or thick scars and enlarged areola. In addition the ligaments at the borders of the breast tissue are incompletely divided and that is why there is still signs of a former breast. Fortunately both of these problems are correctable with a revision. I would recommend that you discuss this question with your surgeon.
