How can I improve this facial fold from acne scarring? (Photo)

Question

Cystic acne in my teenage years caused volume loss near my nasolabial fold. This loss of volume seems to have caused a facial fold which appears more pronounced when I smile. I’d love to improve the appearance so my smile line can look more natural. Would filler into this fold potentially help smooth the appearance?

At least from the photos provided, the issue appears to be one that is relatively common, known as "parallel laugh lines, " which are rings of lines that characteristically are not present at rest, but appear in parallel around the mouth with smiling. In the hands of an experienced filler injector, these can be treated using a low viscosity, Malleable,Cohesive HA Filler injected in a fanning technique to buttress the area. You would be wise to make sure to consult with a board certified cosmetic dermatologist filler expert and ask to see his/her personal befores and afters for treating this. Best of luck.

I would recommend seeing an American Board of Plastic Surgery certified plastic surgeon with experience in facial surgery. It is hard to determine if these are dynamic smile lines or what from the limited views shown.
