In healthy patients, I do not typically recommend anything. For your safety, check with your plastic surgeon to determine if the supplements are on his/her approved list. My pre-op instructions specify that ALL sources of Vitamin E, e.g., Vitamin E pills, multivitamins, Slim Fast Ensure Plus, ALL HERBS, e.g. Ginko, Garlic, Ginseng, Natural or health preparations e.g. bee’s pollen, protein powders, etc. are to be STOPPED 1 week BEFORE surgery. My post op instructions include a recommendation that patients take 100 grams of protein per day in the healing phase for the first 6 weeks after surgery. When meeting with my patients prior to surgery I ask them to stop all supplements and over the counter medications because they are less predictable and some are not FDA approved. This can complicate an otherwise straight forward procedure
Most vitamins and supplements are ok to take before and after surgery. The ones to avoid are diet pills and supplements that will raise your heart rate. The fish oil vitamins should also be avoided as they can possibly thin the blood. Be sure to have your Plastic surgeon review your current list and follow his/her instructions. Good Luck.
Normally, we would recommend that all supplements be discontinued at least 1 week pre and post surgery depending on what it is. Consult with your plastic surgeon for his/her specific recommendations regarding supplement restrictions for surgery.
Many plastic surgeons are more concerned about supplements before surgery. It's a very personal topic. You should check with your plastic surgeon. I personally don't see a problem with any of the things that you are taking.
I would recommend you stop taking everything 2 weeks before surgery. But you should check with your surgeon as we all have slightly different pre and post op instructions and he would know best.
Thank you for sharing your question. In general you should clear all medications with your surgeon as they are your best resource, but outside of verifying the components of your multivitamin the rest should be fine to take. best wishes.
Hello,Thank you for your question. I advise my patients to stop most supplements and formulas as well as medications which are known to affect bleeding. I recommend that you tell your Plastic Surgeon about each one you are taking so that they can ensure you are safe. All the best
Your surgeon should have a detailed pre-op check list for you to follow. Your surgeon is your best resource as he/she is most familiar with your medical history and how you will be healing following surgery.
In my practice ALL of those are fine. I would suggest NOT using the caffeine the day before/day of surgery though. BUT.......this is a question that YOUR surgeon needs to answer for you. They may have different restrictions.
Yes, it is safe to have Botox and filler treatments done 2 weeks prior to your breast augmentation surgery. To learn more about breast augmentation, you can read “A Comprehensive Guide to Breast Augmentation.”
Thank you for your question. One option would be to put a light t-shirt on and then put your bra over top to put a barrier between the bra. You could also try taking a Benadryl for the itch and using Cortisone cream topically on the rash to calm it down. Eventually the rash will disappear, but ...
Hello,Thank you for your question and photos. The rash you describe appears superficial and will likely clear up on its own as you are able to shower and inflammation comes down. The bubbling sensation under the skin shortly after surgery is usually related to a little air and fluid trapped in ...
