Hello, I am seeking professional advice regarding concerns I have about the appearance of my nose. When I smile, my nose appears noticeably wider, and my nostrils flare significantly, which makes me uncomfortable, particularly in photographs. Additionally, I am dissatisfied with the shape of my nose, specifically a downward curve just before the tip, which I would like to have straightened or made less prominent. I am interested in surgical options only, as I prefer to avoid non-surgical treatments such as Botox or fillers. I would appreciate guidance on the most suitable procedures to address both the widening of the nose during smiling and the curvature of the nasal profile.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to give you good advice based on this single photo. It appears that you have some elements that would qualify for conservative rhinoplasty but that can be decided only on the basis of in person evaluation. Widening of nostrils and nasal base when smiling is a natural mechanism of facial expression; there are specific muscles around the nose that create this effect naturally. This can be diminished with surgery if this function is excessive. In person consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon with expertise in rhinoplasty is recommended. Good luck.

Alarplasty is the best option for that. It can both reduce the width and nasal flare. The tip can be modified at the same time. Both procedures can be done under local anesthesia and the recovery time is 1-2weeks. You don't need any grafts or implants and no bones need to broken.

Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photograph, you are a great candidate for rhinoplasty. Maneuvers for your surgery would include dorsal hump reduction, tip refinement, nasal tip deprojection, tip elevation, among other maneuvers. Make sure you are going to a surgeon with hundreds of long-term before and after pictures on their website with standardized lighting and standardized backgrounds. With good surgical technique, you could have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person.
