Thanks for your question! In my experience of doing thousands of body contouring surgeries, I usually place a tiny (4mm) incision in the medial groin; it heals to nothing. If the medial knee need to be addressed, I place a similar incision in the mid inner thigh; it also heals great. I like this approach because it allows me to perform liposuction from two different approaches, thus more equally addressing the excess fat. I always equalize the fat after liposuction (SAFE Lipo). Best of luck to!
Micro canula holes are just needle sticks so they hide so well and are very difficult to find after a few months.
Most of the time inner thigh liposuction is performed through a tiny poke hole (3-4mm) in the groin crease right next to the edge of the vagina. They heal beautifully and ultimately invisibly. If the lower inner thigh is being treated this generally requires another poke hole on the inside edge of the knee. I hope this helps!Thomas Taylor, MD, FACS
This varies among plastic surgeons. Generally, to access the upper inner thighs I make one tiny incision on each side of the groin crease. Sometimes a small incision is also made on the lower part of the inner thigh if there is more extensive fat to remove. These incisions are typically barely perceptible once they heal. The most important thing is to have adequate and uniform fat removal. Discuss this with your particular surgeon. Best wishes to you.
Winter Raven In general, plastic surgeons try to select incision sites in skin creases to hide them as well as possible. Very small (3mm) incisions are made in the groin crease to access the inner thighs. Consult with a board certified plastic surgeon to discuss all aspects of liposuction. Good luck!
Liposuction allows an area of localized fat to be treated with removal using minimal incisions. I prefer to treat the inner thigh with a single 3-4mm incision along the crease of the groin. If a second incision is needed, it’s purpose is to allow a cross-hatched approach that improves the contour or shape to the treated area. I mark the potential location for this incision in the pre-op room so there are no surprises with the patient. Liposuction incisions are small and usually heal very well. There are non-surgical options to treat areas of localized fat, such as Coolsculpting. This is worth discussing with your surgeon to ensure you are getting the best treatment. BestDr. Mooty
Hello! Thank you for your question! It does indeed vary and there is no exact location. Incisions for any procedure are meant to give adequate access to allow the surgeon to perform the procedure with proper efficiency and visual and physical access. In plastic surgery, we also try to conceal these incisions in a well-concealed, inconspicuous location, however, to still allow the aforementioned access. For liposuction of the inner thighs alone, an incision in the groin crease is reasonable. Oftentimes with liposuction, counterincisions May be used in order to allow cross-hatching while performing the procedure so as not to create unidirectional tunnels. If so, an incision in the lower medial thigh may be used for this reason as well as if liposuction is needed in this area, since sometimes the cannula used may not be long enough to reach that far, depending on the patient. If other areas of the thigh are being done, the initial incision may be moved more anterioly in a hidden location in order to get the anterior and/or lateral thigh. Regardless, liposuction incisions are typically small puncture sites that are quite difficult to see once healed. Hope that this helps. Best wishes!
I usually do an incision inside the groin crease on the front and one within the buttock fold on the inside of the leg so they are completely invisible. For large areas or more significant liposuction, I may add an additional incision in the middle of the thigh along the inside. The incisions are only a few millimeters long and razor-thin. Hope this helps!Johnson C. Lee, MDBoard-Certified Plastic SurgeonIG: @drjohnsonlee
Different surgeons place their incisions in different locations. I prefer to make the incision in the growing crease. This is beneficial especially for patients who enjoy wearing the Brazilian bikini. I’m very excited about a new technology that I’ve been using for liposuction. It’s called the Vibrastat. You can see a patients inner thigh being suctioned in a video on our page. Recovery is fairly quick. It’s not uncommon for patients to return to work in about three days. I hope you find this information useful. Please watch the enclosed video.
One might be tempted to answer this question with a very flippant response of "don't worry about it." But it really isn't or meant to be a flippant answer at all--it is meant to convey the fact that the incisions heal very well, are small and end up being very inconspicuous to the point where you won't notice them or worry about them.
