Follow-up: I have a small lump of cartilage on my nostril that I would like removed. (photos)

Question

I had a nose job done over 10 years ago. Overall, I'm happy with the results but over time I've developed this small lump on my nostril. I think it's cartilage, it's "bouncy" when I touch it. Almost looks like it migrated to my nostril from the tip. I am not interested in having a full blown revision surgery, just in having this little lump removed. I included a photo of what I would hope for as a result. Is this possible? Would it be a major surgery to accomplish this?

It is difficult to say what the lump might be without examining you.  If you developed it over a long period of time, it's possible for it to be a piece of cartilage that may have migrated.  I recommend that you see a facial plastic or plastic surgeon who can examine you thoroughly and treat it accordingly.

It is possible that a cartilage graft was used during your original surgery and this piece of cartilage could have migrated.  You definitely need to have an evaluation.   The surgeon should palpate and examine this area.  It would also be very helpful to have a copy of your old operative note if this is available. The surgeon could then review this to determine if a cartilage graft was used with your original operation.  Depending on what is found at the evaluation the surgeon can determine whether this is something that could be done under a local anesthetic or would need to be done in the operating room.  Take care.Dr. Timothy A. It could be a prominent foot plate of the medial crus and/or a bulge in the septum. You need an examination to make a proper diagnosis.
