I am 4 weeks post op my tummy tuck, with liposuction on front and posterior flanks. On my left side, right at my hip (where the tummy tuck incision ends) there is a hard lump. It was much larger right after my surgery; however, it still is LARGELY apparent. At my 3 week post op appointment, my doctor said this was normal and the swelling would go down. I have applied heat every day and massage the lump, but it is still there. Any suggestions on helping the process so I don’t look deformed?

Answer: Tummy tuck results Dear un1corn,I understand your concern and it is quite normal to be concerned about the outcome following a tummy tuck surgery. However, you are still in the very early stages of the healing process.Your will need to be patient at this moment and follow what your surgeon has instructed you to do post operatively. At the early stage of the healing process, the tissues are still swollen. Once the swelling subsides you will be able to see the final result of your surgery.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Answer: IDEAL Liposuction Dear Un1corn,Hello and thank you for your excellent question. Some lumpiness can appear after any form of surgery, and generally resolves over the coming months. If it does not, then I recommend that you ask your surgeon about other treatments (like ultrasound, liposuction, massage, or others). If you have any questions, call our office for assistance.
