Possibility of permanent numbness from breast lipo & how long would temporary numbness last?

Thank you for your query. The chances of permanent loss of nipple sensation from a liposuction reduction are almost zero. There may be some temporary numbness of breasts that always goes away. You may have some bruising and swelling and rarely a collection of blood or serous fluid but the overall risks are minimal, I sometimes combine liposuction reduction with some non surgical skin tightening to prevent laxity of breast following the procedure . Breast liposuction can be effective to remove fat. Usually breast tissue does not come out. Unfortunately, you have not told us your cup size or provided photographs. You may or may not be able to lose a cup size. The downtime is minimal, in about one month you should be back to normal and any numbness should be temporary.

Liposuction of the breasts can remove fat, but cannot remove fibrous breast tissue. Liposuction can lead to changes in sensation due to swelling and stretching of the nerves. Most sensation changes resolve after a few months. Some can take up to a year and at times the changes can be permanent. Visit with a board certified plastic surgeon near you to learn more about the risks and benefits and to see if you are a candidate.

You did not state your age or weight or breast size which is important. If you are normal weight and are under the age 40, the breast liposuction may not work. Liposuction only removes fat, but not actual breast tissue. if you are over 40 and have gained in breast size with weight gain, then liposuction might work well. If you are past menopause, the liposuction can work nicely as the actual breast tissue shrinks and leaves more fat. Usually, numbness is related to swelling and is gone by month 3-4 in most areas. Liposuction is less painful than an actual reduction and has tiny scars. Go in for a consultation. Insurance will not cover liposuction for a breast reduction. If you only want to drop one cup, insurance will not cover anything for you.
