Large, irregular lumps in the abs and love handles after liposuction, is this normal? (photo)

Question

48 hours after the surgery when I removed the compression garment for the first time, entire lower abdomen and flanks were irregular and swollen. PS asked me to continue wearing compression garment. At two weeks now and nothing has changed. No fluid under the skin, the lumps are hard to touch. Upper abdomen looks perfectly fine after the procedure. My PS thinks the compression vest squished the abs causing the lumps. He has now asked me to take off the vest completely. Please advice

I can't tell from the photographs provided but it appears as though there is a large amount of excess skin. Liposuction will remove any surplus fat but the appearance of excess skin might be aggravated. Nevertheless the appearance of the abdomen should improve with time.

Talk to your doctor and if your not happy with his/her answer get a second opinion.  You are too early in the healing phase, and should wait another 2 weeks to see what you have.

It is not uncommon to have some visible lumps after removing your compression garment and lumps you can feel for even months after the procedure. Almost always, these lumps resolve over time.  What I can say for certain, though, is that how you look at 2 weeks is likely to be dramatically different from how you will look at 6 months. Appears to late to advise that liposuction was not the best option as an over the internet opinion. Best to seek IN PERSON second opinions or wait 3 months to allow healing phase to complete. I might suggest aggressive lymphatic massages, external ultrasound therapy..

Remember that you are early in the healing process.  If you wear pantyhose that are too tight, you will see lines on your abdomen, too.  If the compression garment did not fit well, that would be an indication to stop its use and you will have to wait for the swelling to recede before coming to any conclusions as to the result.  It can take many months so please be patient.

I agree that the lumpiness will be better in time. Will it be perfect? Probably not, but be patient and with time you will see some improvement. Consult your plastic surgeon.
