I am considering getting filler in my chin, lips, cheek bone area and jaw line but am unsure if it is safe to do so since I have a heart condition. When I go to the dentist I have to take antibiotics before the appointment. Would I do the same for this?
Answer: Filler After Open Heart Surgery for Tetralogy of Fallot Thanks for your question. Yes. As long as you are in good overall health, you should be able to have fillers. As far as antibiotic prophylaxis, I would ask your cardiologist, as they are seeing you and know the status of your heart and its structures. It is very important that you tell your well trained, experienced injector all of your past medical history, along with the vitamins and herbal supplements that you are on. Jeffrey J. Answer: Getting fillers after heart surgery - what you need to know It should not be a problem for you to get fillers after heart surgery as long as you are fully healed from the procedure. Greater precautions are taken with dental procedures because your mouth is full of bacteria that could be circulated into the bloodstream during a treatment. However, there is little concern about infection when you have dermal filler injections. Make sure you work with an experienced, board-certified injector who knows your medical history and has the expertise to ensure your treatment is both safe and successful.

Answer: YES You should not need any antibiotics for a filler treatment. When you go to the dentist, there are a lot of bacteria in the mouth and dental procedures can put some of those in the circulation, thus thinned for antibiotics if you have a heart condition like yours. This is not the case when doing fillers. The skin is cleaned antiseptically prior to the procedure and there is virtually no risk of infection.
