I noticed blotches over my head the other day and it almost looks like some pigment is gone. Is this a fungal infection? (Photo)

Question

Some are the size of a quarter and some all little small specks all over my scalp. I noticed that there were these little pigment dots / specks everywhere accept the back really. It looks something was eating away at the top of my head and like a very thin layer of skin is missing. I am experiencing a mild burning / itching sensation. Lastly could this effect a scalp micro pigmentation procedure I had done a year ago if it's fungus?

If you believe you have a fungal infection, you need to see a doctor.  It may also be blotches from SMP.  No way to tell with photos.

Hello.It is difficult to diagnose you from a photo.  Fungal or yeast overgrowth on the scalp can cause changes to the skin.  However, your body can break down pigment in certain areas quicker either from trauma, irritation, and sun exposure.  A dermatologist can assess and diagnose you and offer treatment regimens. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to gauge what is going on in these photos.  It is possibly a fungus as you suggest, but you should seen a dermatologist to be sure.

If you are concerned about the condition of your scalp you should seek the opinion of one of the following:- a trichologist (non-doctor trained in scalp and hair health)- a family doctor / general practitioner- a dermatologist The photos you have submitted are not of a sufficient quality to demonstrate what you are concerned about and it is not possible to make a diagnosis from them.
