My armpit would not numb during a miraDry procedure. What are some suggestion for the next go around?

If you have issues with epinephrine I would suggest numbing one armpit and performing the treatment and then proceeding with the same on the other armpit with regular Lidocaine. The epinephrin in the lidocaine is what is going to extend the effects of the numbing so it is more beneficial. If you are not allergic and do not have severe reactions to the epinephrine I would suggest using it during your next treatment. I would recommend asking your provider about this before your procedure.

Epinephrine constricts the blood vessels which prevents the anesthesia from dissipating too quickly. In other words, epinephrine maintains numbing longer. In addition, epinephrine minimizes bleeding, so it can decrease bruising as well. If you are sensitive to epinephrine effects, your practitioner could use a lower concentration of epinephrine. In addition, I would recommend that you be well hydrated and well rested prior to the procedure.
