Cellulaze system for hyperhydrosis or miraDry? (photos)

Question

I suffer from hyperhydrosis Bad under my arms . I had a procedure for miradry scheduled and then cancelled due to hearing it can be ineffective and about the side effects , I rescheduled another consultation for miradry and I'm waiting to go to that.. but After doing more research I seen a local plastic surgery center offers "Cellulaze system" for hyperhydrosis.. I can't find anything on this, but seems the gland can be accurately punctured this way . What is the best to go with?

Before bouncing from one hope-in-a-device to another (whose hard science often lags well behind the marketing hype to promote it, as you have been learning from your own research), just make sure that you have looked into more established and founded methods for control of axillary hyperhidrosis, such as Botox injections. I have personally been using Botox for this purpose for many years with gratifying results that can last up to nine months. Also be sure that you consult with an experienced, board certified dermatologist who can also help you by prescribing appropriate prescription medications and regimens that can supplement and prolong the effects of the Botox treatments. 100%, without hesitation, miraDry, miraDry, miraDry! We use this device regularly, and it is one of the best treatments we perform in our office, with results that can be life-changing for some people. We find 90% of our patients require one treatment only (the true hyperhidrosis, or really excess sweater, may require a 2nd treatment). Results are immediate and permanent, with minimal side effects, if at all. You will certainly have some swelling in the armpits, that goes away within a few days. Bruising is variable, but generally minimal, and you will experience some lumpy, bumpy, nodularity as the glands shrink down and get firm, but this will fade over several weeks. Other than that we have experienced no major side effects, and patients are really happy. miraDry is the only device FDA approved, Cellulaze is not FDA approved for this. While Botox can be effective, it is only temporary and will need to be redone regularly, perhaps several times a year, and requires multiple needlesticks to each armpit, often up to 20 or more per side. Also, it will require 100 units total, 50 per side, and is extremely expensive. Even if your insurance will allow coverage, you may still have deductibles and co-pays which can add up to large amounts. Go with miraDry, I believe you will be very satisfied.

MiraDry is the only noninvasive FDA approved long term treatment for hyperhidrosis.  It utilizes microwave energy to destroy your sweat and odor glands.  Only 2% of sweat glands in your body are in the armpits so you still have 98% of the remaining sweat glands.  Because it uses microwave energy, it heats the water containing elements (just like your microwave oven).  Thus, it doesn't attack under arm nerves or lymph glands, which can be a down side to any laser treatments.  I have both technologies in my office and I only use the MiraDry for hyperhidrosis.  Once the MiraDry treatment begins, it takes about 20-30 minutes to treat each armpit.  This results in about 80% permanent destruction of your sweat and odor glands.  Occasionally, a second treatment is desired to gain further reduction of sweat and we typically do this at about 3 months or more.  Additionally, there is ~70% reduction in underarm hair growth as well.  So, in summary, both treatments can be effective but the MiraDry is an FDA approved dedicated technology for this purpose and it safer than the Cellulaze treatment.
