Can I permanently stop excess sweating on chest, back, and shoulders? Would miraDry work for these areas?

Can miraDry or anything else be used to permanently treat these areas? I used to never sweat much, then I started taking accutane. After this medication, im constantly sweating in large amounts when I'm outside for a few minutes when its even a little warm, especially if I'm working out, I'm just drenched in sweat... It's been three years since Accutane has been finished for me. I do not want to take another medication. Is there anything permanent that can help?

miraDry is an effective and guaranteed treatment for the reduction of excessive underarm sweating. Average reduction in underarm sweating exceeds 80% per patient. Miradry can treat only the underarm area and states that it's 80-85% effective. Some clients need an additional treatment several months later. It is not approved for use in any other areas of the body at this time.

no you cannot, you can get specific neurological surgery but that can cause many other side effects. I suggest seeing an expert for evaluation. small areas can get botox or miradry (which I dont find that good a treatment).  Best, Dr. Emer.

Sorry you are going through a tough time with excessive sweating!  MiraDry is only used for the underarms, but we do get questions about other areas all the time.  Hopefully someday there will be areas other than the underarms, or axillae, that can be treated, as it is a really wonderful treatment for long term reduction of underarm sweat, odor and hair.  Ask your dermatologist about other options including iontopheresis and a medication called Robinul that might help with other areas of the body that have excessive sweating.  Unfortunately these are not permanent solutions, but might help in some capacity.  Best of luck!

Hi- miraDry is only intended for the underarms at the moment. But who knows- perhaps in the future we will have other placement options.

Unfortunately, MiraDry is only used in the armpit area and will not help sweating in any other areas of the body. There are prescription wipes that can help with sweating in these areas; however, it is something you would have to apply daily. Hope this helps!
