What are my other options for my low back seroma after 3 weeks post-op from Vaser 360 with almost daily draining?

Seroma needs to be drained daily until it no longer forms.

In your end he didn’t include how long ago your surgery was.

Alternatives are making a surgical opening allowing the fluid to simply drain into pants continuously(Think wearing diapers), or having a new drain placed. This can either be done by your surgeon or it can be done by the interventional radiology us as any modern hospital.

What’s most important is draining them completely and frequently until they lower the longer form.

The longer they stay full of fluid the last contact there is between the surface edges keeping it open. If allowed to stay open it will eventually become in capsulated at which point he can no longer be eliminated by simply draining it.

Sometimes drains need to stay in for a long long time. As frustrating as it is well fluid is still being produced I t needs some place to drain. I typically make my patients keep the drains in a few days longer to minimize the chance of this.

Ask your surgeon to refer you to an interventional radiologist if needed.

I'm sorry to hear of your difficulties following your liposuction. A seroma is a collection of tissue fluid accumulating at the operative site. It is caused by injury to the soft tissues. When blood vessels and lymphatics get damaged through the normal course of the operative procedure, the body mounts an inflammatory response, resulting in the production of fluid. Normally, the body absorbs this fluid, but, if excessive, it will accumulate and create a seroma.
Small seromas will naturally resorb, but larger seromas require drainage. Serial needle aspirations may be required. If repeated aspirations fail to control the seroma, a drain is placed and is usually left in place until the drainage subsides. If the seroma persists for more than several months, sclerosing solutions (we employ doxycycline) can be introduced through the drain to create scar which will retard fluid accumulation. In unusual instances, surgical excision of the tissue making up the walls of the seroma is required. Closing the resulting defect with a quilt like technique appears to be of benefit.
