I had kybella a week ago, I had what I thought were the normal reactions. I was administered two doses through 26-28 injections. On the second day it turned incredibly red, like a burn red in the shape of the grid. I also developed a lot of bruising, even on spots that were several inches from the injection area. By the third day the skin had turned dry and hard but still very red but began darkening near the edges. Today is day 7 I have a full dark scab and am shedding. Is this normal?
Answer: Kybella Dear jessmarkes,Kybella typically takes 3 to 5 treatments to work. This is why I've stopped carrying Kybella in my office. I recommend neck liposuction more often then any injectable procedure for the neck now. It provides superior results gives me more control over the area than any injectable. It also costs about the same as what you paid for your first kybella session. The liposuction can be done under local while awake in the office and recovery is about the same as kybella.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Answer: Redness after Kybella & Results--add thermage, ultherapy, exilis, VASER, ThermiRF Redness can be typical, but I recommend following up with your practitioner. Keep in mind, a combination approach is needed to get the most improvement with non-invasive options like Kybella and some people need a series of treatments. I recommend Kybella with thermage, ultherapy, exilis. VASER liposuction in combination with ThermiRF is a great alternative for contouring the chin, if you're a candidate. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Scabbing is not typical after Kybella certainly redness swelling and inflammation are all normal after a Kybella treatment as these are signs of inflammation. Typically scabbing is not normal. I would consider applying Bacitracin to the area but based on the pictures you should be fine. Persistent or worsening redness, swelling or fever or not normal and requires evaluation by your physicians.

Answer: Kybella a week ago: just wondering is it normal to be very red/scab? Kybella injected into submental fat is a great treatment for fat reduction. Some patients require more than one session depending on the amount of fat to be destroyed, but results can be appreciated right after the first session. It is normal for some patients to experience redness, swelling for few days. In your case you need to follow up with the physician that performed the injections. In my practice immediately after injections we apply a very cold gel for 10 minutes and recommend using cold compresses at home to minimize the redness and swelling.
