I recently had my first Kybella treatment 2/17. 4 vials were injected in my submental and jowl area. 1 month later I am still continuing to experience pain and soreness, especially in my lower jaw, in addition to an asymmetrical smile. The nurse who injected me said this should resolve as the swelling goes down. I was told my asymmetry will resolve but why am I still feeling pain/soreness in my jaw and will this go away? I am starting to worry.
Answer: Pain after Kybella? Pain and swelling can be typical and will gradually resolve over the next several weeks. Keep in mind, Kybella take 1-3 treatments every 6 weeks. Patient will develop swelling and possible bruising after each injection that may last a few days. The benefit of Kybella is each treatment is quick and completed in the office. However, some patients need more than one treatment to get desired results. Hope this helps.

Answer: Kybella Results--add thermage, ultherapy, exilis, VASER, ThermiRF Healing can be variable and it can take several weeks for tenderness and/or swelling to resolve. Keep in mind, a combination approach is needed to get the most improvement with non-invasive options like Kybella and some people need a series of treatments. I recommend Kybella with thermage, ultherapy, exilis. VASER liposuction in combination with ThermiRF is a great alternative for contouring the chin, if you're a candidate and can be performed at the same time as a neck lift. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Kybella Dear tania_f,Kybella typically takes 3 to 5 treatments to work. This is why I've stopped carrying Kybella in my office. I recommend neck liposuction more often then any injectable procedure for the neck now. It provides superior results gives me more control over the area than any injectable. It also costs about the same as what you paid for your first kybella session. The liposuction can be done under local while awake in the office and recovery is about the same as kybella.Daniel Barrett, MD Certified, American Board of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Plastic Surgery Member, American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery

Answer: Kybella Treatment/Downtime Downtime for Kybella consist of swelling, bruising, hot to the touch, numbness, tenderness and redness. These symptoms can last up to six weeks, it may vary individually. If more than 2 vials are used in one session, then you will receive more injections and downtime will take a little longer.
